Boeing granted $380,000 to STEM Synergy Ethiopia to Support the Annual Science Fair

Boeing has committed $380,000 to motivate primary and secondary school students to study science and technology to solve the challenges of their country. Through its partnership with STEM Synergy, a US-based international NGO that manages STEM programs in Ethiopia, Boeing has awarded
funding for the annual science fair for three years beginning 2019.

This shows how Boeing leadership is committed to support the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math ( STEM) education of Ethiopian school students. The fund is used to inspire pre-college students to innovate and create solutions to their local problems.

254 students from all regions of the country has presented their projects. The projects topics include software applications, robotics, and engineering. Students have created prototype devices, tools and solutions for hospitals, business, transportation, pharmaceutical, pedagogical, etc. Finalists
of the science competition were awarded with laptops, tablets, trophies and certificates.

The event was televised and reported to the public by various national media. Government officials, the scientific communities, students, parents, NGOs and diplomats attended the event.

 

Boeing has partnered with STEM Synergy to support STEM initiatives in Ethiopia. STEM Synergy is a non- profit organization based in the US with a mission to motivate and prepare precollege students to study science, technology, engineering and math as their future careers.
