Participation in the Metebaber NGO Fair and ICS Career Conversation Session

STEM Synergy took part in two key events in October and November 2025, both held at the International Community School (ICS), strengthening our visibility and outreach within the community.

a.     Metebaber NGO Fair – October 29, 2025

STEM Synergy participated in the Metebaber NGO Fair for the second time, an event that brought together civil society organizations, development partners, and community groups working to create positive change in Ethiopia. In partnership with BambooLabs, we showcased our STEM education programs and community-focused technologies.

Visitors learned about our nationwide STEM interventions, including hands-on trainings at STEM Centers, Coding and Robotics programs, Girls’ STEM empowerment initiatives, and school-based science and engineering activities.

We also presented innovative technology solutions designed to support women and community livelihoods, such as:

Solar-powered bakeries that help women entrepreneurs reduce costs, increase productivity, and grow sustainable businesses.

Eco-friendly bamboo bicycles, wheelchairs, and crutches produced with BambooLabs, offering affordable, durable, and environmentally friendly mobility options for communities and persons with disabilities.

The fair provided an excellent opportunity to connect with parents, NGO representatives, and students, who appreciated the link between STEM skills and real-life community challenges. Our participation strengthened partnerships and reaffirmed our mission to advance inclusive and sustainable STEM innovation across Ethiopia.

Additionally, partnership discussions with BambooLabs were initiated based on the recommendation of Board Member Mr. Rafael, with a memorandum of understanding currently in progress.

b.      ICS Career Conversation Session – November 28, 2025

During the ICS Career Conversation Session, STEM Synergy’s Country Director, Ato Abiyot Lakew, spoke with high school students about career opportunities in STEM education, technology transfer, and innovation. He shared his personal career journey to show the many paths’ students can take to make an impact in their communities through science and technology.

Ato Abiyot highlighted STEM Synergy’s national work from STEM Center trainings and national science fairs to girls’ empowerment programs, teacher development, and sustainable technologies like solar bakeries. His message emphasized how STEM education contributes to Ethiopia’s long-term social and economic growth.

The session was interactive, with students asking questions about future STEM careers, emerging fields like AI and robotics, and how to prepare for them. He encouraged students to stay curious, explore STEM opportunities, and use their skills to solve local challenges.

Together, these two events strengthened STEM Synergy’s engagement with the public, inspired young learners, and strengthened partnerships with key stakeholders. They also reaffirmed our commitment to building an inclusive and innovative future through STEM education and community-centered technology solutions.
