STEM Synergy, in collaboration with the FDRE ministry of education and other key STEM stakeholders, proudly organized and sponsored the 9th national science and engineering fair, held at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU). The event was timed to coincide with UNESCO World Science Day, commemorated globally on November 10, 2024.
This year’s fair welcomed 124 students and 20 dedicated teachers from primary and secondary schools across Ethiopia—each selected for their exceptional project work at local competitions. It provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase their innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills across various STEM fields.
Over the course of the event, students competed in eight categories, presenting innovative solutions to real-world challenges. But beyond the competition, the fair served as a vibrant space for learning, sharing, and inspiration. Participants had the opportunity to present their ideas to an engaged audience, connect with professionals and mentors, and collaborate with peers from different regions.
STEM Synergy was honored to sponsor the event and to celebrate the achievements of young innovators by awarding:
- Laptops to the first-place winners.
- Samsung Galaxy and C-idea tablets to second- and third-place winners, and
- A special reception on the closing day for guests of honor, organizers, and coordinators, hosted at AASTU.
The closing ceremony was a proud moment, attended by officials from the Ministry of Education, representatives from the Country Director of STEM Synergy, families, and a large audience of supporters. Together, we witnessed the passion and potential of Ethiopia’s next generation of scientists and engineers.
