STEM Synergy, partnering with Lytefire, has developed solar bakeries in Ethiopia, leveraging affordable solar technology to provide a sustainable, eco-friendly solution to food production and energy poverty in regions like Wolaita, Afar, Debre Tabor, and Harar, where six units have been successfully transferred. These bakeries empower communities by creating jobs—especially for women and youth—boosting local economies through small-scale baking businesses, and reducing environmental impact by cutting reliance on traditional fuels, thus curbing deforestation and pollution. Alongside clean energy for baking, end users receive technical and entrepreneurship training to operate and sustain these ventures, aligning with STEM Synergy’s mission to enhance youth employability, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability.
