Ato Shiferaw Telila is an accomplished electrical engineer who served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) from June 2018 until February 2025. Born in Ethiopia in 1971, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Addis Ababa University in 1993. He furthered his studies with a postgraduate degree in Electrical Power Engineering from the same institution.

Throughout his tenure at EEU, Ato Shiferaw played a pivotal role in enhancing Ethiopia’s power sector. Notably, he led the Universal Electricity Access Program, which successfully electrified over 5,000 towns and rural villages. His leadership was instrumental in modernizing the grid to address the country’s energy challenges. In February 2025, Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) appointed Ato Getu Geremew as the new CEO of EEU, succeeding Ato Shiferaw.
