In July 2025, STEM Synergy Inc., in collaboration with a compassionate group of individuals originally from Wolaita, Ethiopia, now residing in the United States, proudly announced the successful installation of its fourth solar-powered bakery unit in Bitena Town, Dugna Fango Woreda.
This initiative represents more than just a clean energy project it is a story of empowerment, resilience, and progress. By combining solar technology with entrepreneurial capacity building, the project supports local income generation while addressing energy access challenges in rural Ethiopia.
Each solar-powered bakery unit is designed specifically for off-grid and under-resourced communities, harnessing solar energy to power daily operations. This technology enables small business creation, promotes women- and youth-led enterprises, and creates dignified employment for local families.
In Bitena, the new bakery already making a difference, providing access to fresh bread, reducing dependency on traditional fuel, and giving rise to local economic activity. As part of every installation, STEM Synergy provides comprehensive training to beneficiaries on how to operate and maintain the machinery, as well as ongoing entrepreneurship development support to help them run successful and sustainable businesses.
This project is part of STEM Synergy’s broader mission to promote technology transfer and economic empowerment through solar technology. We are deeply committed to empowering young and women entrepreneurs, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to drive local change. In doing so, we are not only addressing economic challenges but also contributing to long-term climate resilience and energy independence.
